| On Thursday evening, members of the Lionville Fire Company conducted the first part of a two-part ice rescue training series at the station. The session began with an in-house PowerPoint presentation covering ice rescue basics, techniques for approaching and rescuing victims who have fallen through the ice, and important safety considerations.
Following the presentation, personnel reviewed the companies ice rescue equipment. Members also inspected and serviced the tools to ensure everything is in proper working order and ready for use in an emergency, especially with the current extended period of cold temperatures.
Ice Safety Reminder for Residents:
No ice is ever completely safe, conditions can vary widely. Avoid walking, skating, or driving on frozen bodies of water unless it has been professionally certified safe. Keep pets off the ice. If someone falls through the ice, call 911 immediately, do not attempt a rescue yourself. |
