Confined Space Rescue Training
By Lionville Fire Company
August 15, 2013
This week for our drill night, Members trained on Confined Space Rescues. The night started off with a scenario-based training for a worker stuck in a storm drain due to a collapse. This required our Members to segregate into teams, performing multiple roles, such as testing the air quality and setting up ropes and riggings for both the rescuers and the victim. Members were unable to access the victim from the storm drain due to the collapse. This required the rescuers to make entry through a manhole and continue through a long section of pipe in order to reach the collapsed area where the victim was trapped. Once accessing the victim, the rescuers were able to assess his medical condition and package the patient in order to extricate.
Units:
Engine 47-2, Rescue 47, Utility 47
FF Lam manages air supply
Lt. Esterlis stands by to enter manhole
FF Mennor removes "debris" in order to gain access to the victim
