| On Friday, March 8th, a home on the 400 block of Denford Way was damaged by fire, resulting not only in the loss of the home for the owners, but a majority of their contents as well.
Benjamin H., a six-year old neighbor decided that he wanted to help the homeowner's out by putting together a fundraiser in their neighborhood. Benjamin's father contacted the Fire Company to see if we could help. On Saturday, March 16th, a crew arrived on Tower 47 to assist Benjamin and his friend's Emily R., Louis R. & Tommy G. in thier efforts. The Fire Company provided fire prevention materials, as well as allowed the children to tour the apparatus. Although, they did not meet Ben's goal of $40,000.00, he and his friends were able to raise $1,047.30 just by flagging people down on the street, explaining their cause, and asking for a donation.
The Fire Company was honored to assist the neighborhood, and this noble six-year old, in their efforts. |
