By Lionville Fire Co.
September 12, 2009

In the morning hours on Saturday, Lionville Fire along with Ambulance and Medic 87 (Uwchlan EMS) was alerted to the west bound lanes on the Turnpike for an auto accident with entrapment.

Chief, Deputy and Rescue 47 responded and was advised of a two vehicle accident with multiple subjects still inside an overturned van. Deputy 47 arrived and confirmed 4 confined in the overturned van and one subject ejected. Chief 47 assumed "Turnpike Command" and requested 5 BLS (Basis Life Support Ambulances) units to the scene.

Rescue 47 (FF Rachko) crew began stabilizing the van before removing the back doors of the van to gain access to the subjects inside. Luckily all 4 people inside were able to walk out with minor injuries.

87 EMS transported 1 patient to Reading Hospital.

Just after 1pm, Engine 47-5 was alerted to relocate to Station 73 (Ludwig's Corner) while they were operating at a multi-alarm barn fire. While enroute, command requested additional tankers to the scene bringing Engine 47-5 (Lt. Boyle) to the fire. After arriving on scene the crew made the hike up to the scene to assist with manpower, while the driver assisted with tanker shuttles.

47-5 operated for 3 1/2 hrs.
