| Fire fighters got together on a beautiful Sunday morning to continue the core Rescue Technician course, put on by Buck County Community College. The course is a 48 hour core class intended to teach different types of rescues.
After the core class, trained personnel will be able to take a variety of specific rescue segments.
On Sunday, the instructor demonstrated a different assortment of basic knots along with uses for these knots. After the fire fighters were proficient enough in their knot tying skills they moved on to the application portion of the day.
Patient packaging was an important skill that was practiced and perfected during the day. In the afternoon the fire fighters set up a Z-Rig which is utilized in below grade rescues.
Participants of the class got some great hands on experience with the different parts of the rig, and how to assemble it in a real rescue situation.
The class has a few hours left before the final test, where the fire fighters will need to demonstrate learned skills. |
