| At 10:41 hrs, the Lionville Fire Co. was dispatched to the YMCA in the 600 block of Rice Blvd for a Fire Alarm. Minutes later the assignment was upgraded to the Building Fire which added Downingtown Minquas (46) and West Whiteland (6) Fire Companies for the building fire dispatch.
Engine 47-2 (Lt. Boyle) responded quickly and was advised of smoke coming from the ceilings, and the building was being evacuated. Tower 47 (Lt. Salinsky) and Engine 47-5 (FF R. Edwards) responded seconds later.
Chief 47 (Holmes) arrived on scene and assumed "Eagleview Command" while Chief 6 (Shirk) had "Command Post".
Engine 47-2's crew entered the building to check for any fire, while Tower 47 set the ladder to the roof. Engine 46-2 arrived minutes later and was ordered to stand by at the hydrant until crews confirmed everything to be safe inside.
Crews found a burned up heating unit on the roof of the building and the assignment was held to the Lionville units.
