On Friday, November 18th at 6:21am, The Lionville Fire Company and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps were dispatched to The Pennsylvania Turnpike at mile marker 314.3 East Bound in West Pikeland Township for a reported single vehicle auto accident.

Initial reports indicated that a vehicle went off the roadway and down an embankment. Moments later, The Chester County Department of Emergency Services 911 Center began receiving multiple calls, advising of occupants trapped in the vehicle. The assignment was then upgraded to an automobile accident with entrapment.

Chief 47 arrived to find one vehicle down an embankment, overturned, with 2 subjects trapped inside. An additional Advanced Life Support capable ambulance from Uwchlan Ambulance and Rescue 6 from the West Whiteland Fire Company were also dispatched to assist.

It was determined that better access to the scene could be made from Upper Pine Creek Road and all responding units were rerouted to that location.

Upon their arrival, the crews from Rescue 47, Engine 47-2, Rescue 6, and Uwchlan EMS worked quickly to extricate both patients from the vehicle.

The patients were transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Lionville Volunteers operated at this incident for just over an hour.
