Hazardous Materials Incident

On Tuesday, August 19th at 14:41 hours, The Lionville Fire Company along with Uwchlan Ambulance (87), and the Chester County Hazardous Materials Team (15), were dispatched to the intersection of Route 113 & Route 401 in West Pikeland Township. Deputy 47 & Assistant 47 quickly responded and were advised by the Chester County Fire Board that they were receiving reports that a pesticide trailer being towed by a farm tractor had overturned and was had spilled approximately 200-300 gallons of the material in the street.

Units arrived and began working to prevent any more of the chemical from entering nearby storm drains, and to stop the leak.

Lionville volunteers operated for approximately 2 hours before clearing the scene.
