On Thursday February 15, 2006 members of the Lionville Fire Company gathered for our weekly training. This week we had a scheduled tour of the Chester County 911 center which is located in the lower level of the Chester County Government Services Center on Westtown Road in West Chester, PA.

Lionville members learned what happens behind the scenes when someone dials 911. A 911 operator receives the 911 call and verifies the caller's name, address, phone number, and reason for calling 911. At the same time this information is being entered into the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) System the information is being sent to a Police or Fire/EMS radio dispatcher. The dispatcher then alerts the appropriate units for the emergency response based on the information entered into the CAD system. The 911 operator remains on the line with the caller updating the incident in CAD with any additional information the caller may give until the police, fire, or EMS units arrive onscene.

After the tour of the 911 center Lionville members were treated to pizza and soda.

The Lionville Fire Company would like to Thank the Chester County Department of Emergency Services and Platoon B for their hospitality.
