By Lionville Fire Company
December 23, 2009
8:18pm, the first alarm assignment was dispatched to the 1700 Block of Art School Rd for the house fire in Kimberton's (61) first due. The first alarm assignment consisted of 61, 47, 73 units.
Engine 61-1 arrived first with heavy smoke showing, followed by Engine 47-2 (Asst Chief Garver) and Tower 47 (FF Schimpf). Both Engine Companies stretched attack lines into the first and second floors where they met heavy smoke conditions inside. The crew from Tower 47 began throwing ground ladders and pulling ceilings inside for the Engine crews. Fire spread through many of the interior walls and soon involved all three floors of the house. Crews were soon pulled out of the structure due to deteriorating fire conditions. Command struck the second alarm bringing 65, 68, and 5. After crews regrouped they were sent back in to put a knock on the fire. The fire was brought under control in about 2 hours.
