First Due Box Alarm
By Lionville Fire Company
December 14, 2009
At 9:48pm the first due assignment was dispatched to Kensey Nash Laboratory for smoke in the building. Chief 47 (Holmes) arrived quickly and reported a working fire in a lab with reports of Hexane gas burning. Hazmat 15 was dispatched.
Engine 47-2 (Asst. Chief Garver) arrived first followed by Tower 6 (West Whiteland). The Engine crew found a hood unit on fire with extension into the ceiling and duct work and extinguished the fire with dry chemical extinguishers. Tower 6 and Tower 47(FF Hull) laddered the building and checked the roof, while the crew from Ludwig's Corner(73) checked the second floor for any extension. Engine 48-5 (Glennmore) arrived and connected to the FDC.
After the fire was under control all crews were decontaminated outside.
