By Lionville Fire Company
August 28, 2015

This past Friday, August 28th, Chester County Fire Service lost another faithful servant, as Phoenixville Fire Department Deputy Chief, Brian Gallagher passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

Brian was a long time firefighter in the county, starting with the Kimberton Fire Company in 1972, as a Junior Member, and joined the Phoenixville Fire Department in 1976. Brian was a fixture at Phoenixville for years, leading many of the company events over the years, including taking charge of the Junior Program. Brian previously held the positions of Lieutenant, Training Officer, and Assistant Chief. He was currently serving as Deputy Chief at the time of his passing.

Brian previously worked for the Chester County Department of Emergency Services, where he started as a dispatcher on the fire board and served as a County Fire Marshall for several years before he retired. Code Enforcement was another area where Brian served for several municipalities, including Uwchlan Township, where he was a Fire Marshall. Most recently, he operated his own business providing Fire Investigation and Code Enforcement services to municipalities and businesses.
Brian served as President of the Northern Chester County Fire Chiefs Association for several years until stepping down at the end of 2014.

The Officers and Members of the Lionville Fire Company would like to send sincerest condolences to Brian’s family and friends, as well as the members of the Phoenixville Fire Department during this most difficult time.
