September 20, 2014

Saturday, September 20th became a busy day for Lionville Volunteers who answered 7 fire calls.

The day started off at 7:00 AM when the company was dispatched to the 400 block of Eagleview Blvd for a fire alarm activation. Engine 47-2 responded, and crews determined that the alarm was set off due to construction going on in the building.

At 11:22 AM, the company was dispatched to the 500 block of Ferncastle Drive for a tree fire. Engine 47-2 arrived, and crews stretched an attack line to the rear of the residence to begin extinguishing the fire.

At 11:45 AM while crews were operating at the tree fire, the company was dispatched to the 300 block of Hidden Farm Drive for a fire/water flow alarm activation. Deputy 47 arrived and determined that the alarm was set off due to crews at the other call utilizing a fire hydrant.

At 1:25 PM, the company, along with Uwchlan Ambulance (87), was dispatched to mile marker 314.0 in the east bound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike for an auto accident. Initial reports were indicating that one vehicle was overturned. Rescue 47, Deputy 47, and Ambulance 87-1 quickly responded, and were advised that supplemental reports were now indicating that a secondary accident had occurred at the same location. The caller reported one subject was trapped inside the vehicle. Units arrived onscene and found that no occupants were trapped. Crews stabilized the vehicles and assisted with patient care.

At 2:02 PM, as crews were clearing from the turnpike, they noticed another accident had happened in the west bound lanes. Rescue 47, Engine 47-5, and Deputy 47 went to the nearest access gate and got onto the west bound lanes. Crews arrived and assisted EMS with patient care.

At 2:44 PM, the company along with Uwchlan Ambulance (87) was dispatched to the 200 block of Windham Drive for a residential rescue. Supplemental information was stating that a child was stuck in a storm drain. Rescue 47 & Assistant 47 quickly responded. Once on location, crews were able to remove the storm drain grate, and rescue the uninjured child.

Lastly at 6:44 PM, the company was dispatched to the 100 block of Nicolson Drive for a fire alarm activation. Engine 47-2 & Chief 47 responded, and found the cause of the activation to be a faulty smoke detector.

Units: Engine 47-2, Engine 47-5, Rescue 47, Chief 47, Deputy 47, Assistant 47
