By Lionville Fire Company
March 8, 2013

At 1610 hours on March 8, 2013 the Lionville Fire Company (47) along with Minquas Fire Company (46) and Uwchlan Ambulance (87) were dispatched to the 400 block of Denford Way, Uwchlan Township for a house fire. Fame Fire Company (53) was also dispatched as a Rapid Intervention Team, which is used as a firefighter safety and stand by team. Chester County 911 advised the initial units that it was a garage on fire that was attached to the house. Deputy 47(Minahan) arrived on location confirming the report of an attached garage fully involved and requested the "Working Fire Dispatch" which brought assistance from Alert Fire Company (45), West Whiteland Fire Company (6), and Minquas Ambulance (46). The fire was also extending to the house next door. Deputy 47 assumed command of the fire ground.

Engine 47-2 and Engine 46-2 arrived and were ordered to deploy hose lines to the garage, as well as the exposure house to ensure the fire did not extend to the other dwelling. Interior crews found that the fire had extended to the attic area of the house and second floor. Crews worked simultaneously searching the house to ensure all occupants were out, all while working to extinguish the fire that had spread to the upper floors.

Special thanks to the Kimberton Fire Company (61) who stood by at Station 47 to ensure coverage for the area while units operated at the fire. Units cleared the fire scene in about 2 and half hours.

Units: Engine 47-2, Tower 47, Rescue 47, Deputy 47

Mutual Aid: 6, 45, 46, 53, 87
